Weather Conditions:
Saturday and Sunday are Spare The Air days in the Sacramento region. An upper-level ridge of high pressure will reduce atmospheric mixing and produce very warm temperatures and sunny skies. These conditions will support the formation of ground-level ozone. In addition, light onshore winds will limit pollutant dispersion. Furthermore, smoke from the Detwiler fire in Mariposa County may impact the Sacramento region, increasing particle concentrations and enhancing ozone formation. As a result, ozone levels will be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups on both days. Monday, an upper-level trough of low pressure will move into northern California, enhancing vertical mixing and strengthening the onshore winds. In addition, slightly cooler temperatures will reduce ozone formation. Therefore, ozone levels will be high-Moderate.
