Weather Conditions:
Thursday, as a cold front approaches northern California, moderate southeasterly winds will transport regional pollutants into the area during the morning hours. However, as the front passes through the Sacramento region in the afternoon, winds will shift to southwesterly, dispersing pollutants and gradually bringing cleaner air into the area. As a result, particle levels will be Moderate. Friday, light to moderate southwesterly winds will shift to northwesterly in the afternoon, keeping pollutants well dispersed. In addition, a deep upper-level trough of low pressure will enhance atmospheric mixing. These conditions will lead to low-Moderate particle levels. Saturday, light northwesterly winds through the Sacramento Valley will keep the low levels of the atmosphere well mixed. As a result, particle levels will remain low-Moderate.
