Air Quality Forecast and Weather Discussion
Wednesday, calm winds through the morning hours will limit dispersion, and an overnight temperature inversion will trap pollutants at ground level. However, increasing northerly winds through the Sacramento Valley will effectively disperse pollutants in the afternoon, leading to Moderate particle levels. Thursday, calm winds throughout the day will reduce pollutant dispersion, and a strong temperature inversion will inhibit mixing. As a result, particle levels will be high-Moderate. Friday, calm winds will continue to limit mixing and dispersion through the morning hours. Furthermore, southeasterly winds will transport additional pollutants into the Sacramento region in the afternoon. Therefore, particle levels will remain high-Moderate.
